So we are almost two months into the #Fall season. School is in full gear. Many people have returned to the office. And even though many of us are wearing masks and trying to sanitize every inch of our workspace and body #disinfectallthethings, we are still vulnerable to cold and flu season.
Last time, we talked about building up our immune systems with natural supplements such as elderberry and reishi mushroom. Today, we are going to spotlight some other natural ingredients and what that can do to give you a much needed #boost.
Let's start with another mushroom you may or may not be familiar with - #cordyceps.
Cordyceps, or Ophiocordyceps sinensis, has been described as a medicinal agent in ancient Chinese and Tibetan medicine. It is a rare combination of a caterpillar and a fungus and typically found at altitudes above 4500m in Sikkim. Traditional healers and local people of North Sikkim have recommended the mushroom for various diseases either as a single drug or in combination with other herbs. But how exactly does cordyceps work? Cordyceps reportedly can improve immunity by stimulating your body's cells and specific chemicals in the immune system. It has been known to also boost exercise performance, have anti-aging properties, possibly help manage Type 2 Diabetes, heart disease, and help fight inflammation.
Our Cordyceps Mushroom Dual Extract, is known to stimulates the immune system by increasing the number of white blood cells and boosting the activity of natural killer cells (a type of white blood cells), which protect the body from viruses and bacteria. We carry two types, one made with grain alcohol and another with vegetable glycerin. Depends on which one you prefer 😉
What is dual extract you may ask? In a dual extract, the material is first extracted with either hot water or alcohol, and then the remaining plant material is extracted again with the other method. Next, the liquid from the first extraction is combined with the liquid from the second extraction, forming what is now called a dual extract. Which is better? That is up for debate.
It's a mushroom extravaganza!
